......................................................BUT MOST IMPORTANT, IT’S FUN!
Children have great fun exploring many ways of communicating visually & feel very proud to take home wonderful works of art. Mums / Dads have fun engaging with their children whilst enjoying an activity together, maybe even learn something for themselves, & at the end of the class someone else clears up all the mess!
Tot Art was established by Wendy Briggs in 2005. Wendy is herself an Artist, passionate about Art & passionate about encouraging children and young people to enjoy Art; creating for themselves and engaging with Artwork created by others. Wendy has 16 years experience teaching Art, appointed as Head of Art at a Secondary School in Kent for her first appointment & going on to lecture at Mid Kent College, before returning to teaching in schools. In 1997 Wendy set up & created a dynamic Art department at a prestigious London Preparatory School, in 2000 & 2001 won The National Artworks Awards presented at The Tate Modern, & then in 2005 whilst teaching part time, painting & bringing up two small children, in Scotland, Wendy ran her first Tot Art classes. In 2009 Wendy & her family returned to London, settling in Wimbledon, & is currently setting up new classes.
At all Tot Art sessions & workshops emphasis is always put on fun and involvement rather than “a finished product” (having to look a certain way). It is the creative process your child learns that enables your child to arrive at impressive outcomes, & the structured accumulation of skills which enables your child to improve. It is this process along with award winning teaching methods that makes Tot Art special, & how Tot Art sessions & workshops truly equip your child with skills for life.
