Children learn a variety of artistic processes and techniques, & through so doing practice & improve on their fine motor skills.
Pictured above from left to right:
-
1.String painting, carried out by an 18 month old, by covering different length pieces of string (which older children cut for themselves) in paint & then dragging the coloured string over the paper. The children loved their trails of colour & noticed what happened when colours crossed over one another.
-
2.Learning to manipulate line to create a linear image, older children learnt how to create different types & widths of line to arrive at a recognisable image whilst younger children simply enjoyed experimenting with as many different types of lines as they could make & became better at holding a pencil & other media.
-
3.Practising a number of skills in one piece of work (such as above - printing, cutting, ripping & sticking) challenges a number of fine motor skills without children even thinking about it. The children became completely absorbed in making their trees, or landscape collages, & naturally overcame challenges as they followed where their imagination took them.

4.Modelling & moulding clay is always an enjoyable way in which to improve fine motor skills. Making clay Easter egg cups, above, was particularly enjoyable - especially when filled with a chocolate egg to take home in it!
It is the creative process your child learns that enables your child to arrive at impressive outcomes, & the structured accumulation of skills which enables your child to improve. It is this process along with award winning teaching methods that makes Tot Art special, & how Tot Art sessions & workshops truly equip your child with skills for life.
